SM: Praveen, like any other man, is from the planet Mars (simply because there isn't a planet called 'Cars') and like few other men, is extremely chivalrous. I can already see him opening the Cedia door for me (A man apparently does that only if either the car or the lady is new - we have been together for seven years now ;) PJ: I obviously have to be the sensible one, so here's the not-so-brief intro. There i was, a mild Malayali boy studying Medicine when this wild Haryanvi kudi crashed into my life. Swati learned to drive in a Gypsy and it shows! 7 cars and 4 bikes (the RD 350 and the Thunderbird, et al) later, our combined odometer is racing towards 200000 kms. Between periodically disappearing on long drives and rides, the MBBS degrees gave us the opportunity to serve at some of the premier hospitals in South India. Our last stint was a voluntary one at an village near Pune and we're currently applying for our post-graduation.

We are the best candidates because...

We realise that we're up against some formidable competition but there's this irrational, exuberant inner voice screaming "GO FOR IT!" Now this could be because we SO need a holiday, especially one with most expenses paid ;) The intrepid pair that we are are, this performance car will certainly raise our performance bar.. But seriously, we believe that we possess a unique combination of passion and prudence, motoring and multitasking skills, environmental consciousness, and above all the drive to surmount any challenge!

Our Travel Plan

Our guiding motto on road trips is to head for a place we've never set eyes on before. Accordingly, my first plan was to head northwest through Gujarat and Rajasthan to Mohenjodaro in Pakistan. Trust Swati to use potential logistical problems to reject Route A! So we (she) settled on Route B: Mumbai-Daman-Surat-Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Udaipur-Ajmer-Jaipur-Agra-Gwalior-Jhansi-Bhopal-Indore-Dhule-Nashik-Mumbai. A little over 3000 kms but a fabulous combination of beaches, deserts, and hills- yummy!

Our Travelogue

Spending three decades on a bicycle/ motorbike/ train/ plane/ motorcar/ and my feet has made me stoically endure a life of chronic wanderlust! My fondest travel experience was the month-long period in 2008 when i had the privilege to go camping and off-roading in a Ford Wrangler/ KTM 450 as Rally Doctor with a group of professional international rallyists. Not that she needed any encouragement, but once the travel bug bit Swati, our lifestyle almost seemed to border on nomadic.. As various kith and kin may shudderingly recall, we are ever ready to travel and then insist on an audience to share stories with;) On compiling a rough list we're pleasantly surprised to find that between the two of us we've experienced 20 States and 3 UTs in India. The blanks will hopefully be filled soon- with a little help from our friends! Our travelogue extends to Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Germany, and France, but India is truly incredible. Recent excursions include a vineyard tour in the Nashik valley and white water rafting in Dandeli, with memorable drives on both occasions. To misquote a popular ad "Next is Where?"

Hmmm now anything I say bout Doc would hardly do justice considering he's probably one of the very few guys I know who stops at Bangalore on his way in n out of his wanderlust considering Blore is wer he stays ;)... Now here's one guy who'd be out on an unplanned trip and would still catch up with the gang 1/2 way thru, on a trip we planned a few years in advance and then head out to his next destination or to a plc that we just figured existed from his conversation over a quik drink d nite before ! He's a living example of Doctors screwing around with the human body, pushing it to the limit doin crazy stuff like non stop rides/drives to places like Delhi all by himself on his little bullet or his car not to forget the fun trips iv done wid him where he's encouraged us not to plan and go with the flow ;) All the best Doc, I know 2 or 3 guys who deserve to be on this challenge and you sure are one of them, so cool breeze and GO FOR IT n do us proud !

Praveen Jacob is one of the most passionate adventurer and driving enthusiast that i've met. We both grew up in the same neighbourhood and went to school together. He was a very energetic person from his childhood days. We enjoyed cycling, swimming, basketball and whole lot of adventure sports. I still remember the cycling races on the busy roads of Cooke town, that we used to do after school. One of the best example of his driving enthusiasm was the drive that he did from Bangalore to Tiptur(close to 168 kms) on a TVS Champ(50 cc) in 1996. Today the two cities are connected by NH206 but in those days, it was a completely neglected state highway with potholes at every 2 meters are no roads in some places. He confidently did the whole stretch for the first time and met me at the hostel where i'm staying. Swati Mogra is also a very passionate driving enthusiast. I had the privilege of driving with Praveen and Swati to Kerala last year on a Maruthi Esteem. With Swati behind the wheel, she exibited a lot of confidence and passion for the road. She was negotiating the curves with tight precision even during the time, the roads where being tarred on the Trichur Calicut stretch. I'm sure the duo are capable for the challenge and will enjoy their ride together in the GDC. They've got a lot to complement and supplement between the both of them. All the best P & S !

I've known Praveen and Swati for a few years now and to say that they love the outdoors would truly be an understatement. Not only do they take every opportunity to travel around the country and beyond, but they love infecting us with the travel bug. And given Praveen's flair for writing and Swati's love of photography that's not very difficult. Their wanderlust is wonderfully infectious!! All the best on this one!!

I think Praveen is god when it comes to Highway, One time late night i drove out to Pondi instead of gg back home coz i thought bang was gettin boring and he beat me to it by riding all the way there AND sleeping on the beach which i couldn't have mustered the steely danglers even if i was a 7ft african american. I also remember during my younger days a drive back from Goa in a maruti 1000 where i really hoped i could learn to drive like praveen with a darned 50/60 lighting. Swati is a league of her own, there hasn't been a single occassion i haven't been impressed by her! Cheers guys! wishing you the best of luck!!!

What should I say about Swati!!! She is a surprise package..So full of life, passionate and adventurous. She is unstoppable and undoubtably lovable. Praveen and she are a sooper combination. Praveen is my bhaiya and so have seen first hand his passion for anything with wheels. He has taught me a great deal about cars and bikes and instilled in me a similar passion that anything with wheels will move with power. I have witnessed him embarking on many a crazy journey on his trusted bike and car and seen his passion for travelling up close. Given a chance he would probably spend day and night behind his wheels, seeing new places and having new adventures. He is a very calm and controlled driver who does his research and has an all round knowledge about his destination. Together with his better half Swati , who is also an ace driver and performs the task of being the human gprs on their trips together,he is always the one to go to for advice before buying a set of wheels. He is also a brilliant photographer and his pictures are worth a 1000 words.Swati is a very ambitious doctor who is very loving and caring with her patients. In addition to this she is also a very talented dancer and loves to cruise down the roads of Bangalore in Milky ;-) Both Praveen and Swati will make the perfect couple for this trip as they journey through India and blog their way through as in addition they are also great story tellers.

Anythin you say bout Swati would'nt do justice. Totally enthusiastic, highly energetic a total whacko when it comes to being adventurous :) a never say die attitude and a great driver, which makes them both highly compatible to belt out those 3000kms with ease. Ah where can I start. My partner in crime or cousin in crime. A true criminal to his doctorate but living a life without self compromise. Doc doesn%u2019t hit the highways for a getaway from stress like us, he considers the getaways as part of his daily routine. We don%u2019t call to check on Doc as How are you instead we check as Where are you. My first fellow biker starting from the cycle race on Davis rd, to an ass burning ride to Quilon on a KB 100, to an insane ride to Goa on a RD 350 in those days when our pocket money was Rs 20 per day and till date he remains a true biker. We even took a gas gulping cielo for a jolly ride to Hyderabad ha ha. Swati u are the calm mixed with the storm, you are truly a Star. Cedia guys please keep the alcohol away from these duo !!
