In UK, we had a couple of trips to places like northern England (Lake District), southern coastal line (Brighton, Portsmouth, Isle of Wight) & central England. Lake District odyssey was one of the toughest terrain I ever experienced. The zeal in driving abroad was not only about the driving experience on UK motorways (highways) with a speed of 120-130 MPH, but also to witness the landscape on both the sides of the road. Moreover the road layout, quality, safety & other instructions were uniform throughout the way. One thing I highly respect about the driving culture in the UK was respect to pedestrians, courtesy to fellow drivers on the road & patience on the road to follow the rules & regulations diligently, despite of their ultra-busy lives. In India, if I have to choose just one, I would choose my journey on one of the legs of the Golden Quadrilateral of India, i.e., from Pune - Bangalore - Pune - NH4. It was my trip post UK experience, & my expectations of the roads were not high. But when I hit the road, I could feel glide, the way it was in UK. Though there is way to go to customize out highways, but the natural surrounding are better than that of any other country, primarily due to variations in demography & landscapes. One negative about the highways here is - dearth of options when it come to food.
