I am called Prashanth Venky. I drive 1) around 2) Over things 3) people crazy. Basically thats all I do - drive ;-) Among other things I work in the tech industry so that I can, umm, drive - what else? I am light-weight, so all I have to do is spread my wings and float. So I travelled. I have been all over the place, basically. I found that one can never travel enough and one can never experience enough. Food is my other insatiable indulgance though my looks might imply the contrary. So, I food-blog. And then I travel and then I eat and then I ... you get the picture. My friend Neeta goes places; loves to go on wildlife safaris and chase the birds and the beasts to capture all their beauty in her hi-tech camera. Photography is her first love. Take a look at her pictures - they have life, they exhibit sensitivity and sensibility. She treks to every corner there can be and and has looted some of the most unimaginable treasures of nature - the most memorable one being when the cheetah met Neeta. And, she loves ice creams and chocolates.

We are the best candidates because...

The two of us are poles apart with different views to life and this contrast is what you will see in the places we plan to travel with everyday of the drive giving you two perspectives, two views, two reviews, and twice the fun. We will give you the real deal in raw images. Together we have traveled some of the best unknown roads and tasted the most appetizing food that the locals have to offer. We don’t believe in just driving past a place to tick it on our never ending bucket list. We love to experience the place and what the culture has to offer us. We don’t plan our trips, we don’t do anything as the rule says and we have NEVER disappointed our friends with the stories we have told. Life is a story in itself and if you need to experience the 12 days with us, you need good story tellers - which WE are. Every part of India has a new story to tell and stories that would always excite even our fore-fathers. We will bring you stories that even your grand mom would not know of and these stories would be told with some of the best photographs you might have seen. Together we are authoring a novel, and we believe that with this experience we have learnt the art of story telling which would help all of you love what we write and show. We are sure that at the end of the 12 days we will see all of our readers at the Mitsubishi showrooms driving their brand new cars to the places we have been to. We have had some of the worst attendance in college and at our work place. We always find a reason to explore this beautiful country and these 12 days is another reason that we have been looking for to skip work ;-)

Our Travel Plan

We plan to cover all the magnificent terrains of India. We plan to show you the blazing deserts to the calm snow covered mountains. We have planned to drive on some of the most scenic routes of India and show you all the diverse cultures. Click on the link to see the complete route.

Our Travelogue

Our travelogue is a very long list. We have been on this planet for a little more than 20 years and the list of all the beautiful places we have traveled during the short stint on earth is never ending ;-) Our travels abroad have not been very large in number, but its good enough to say that India is the only country with the wide range of magnificent terrains. You can get a map view of our travelogue at: http://tinyurl.com/TGDCtravelogue Sky diving in California, gambling all night in Las Vegas, shopping until broke in Singapore, tasting the best barbecues in Seoul, and the Buddha temples of Sri Lanka are few of the activities we have been involved in abroad. Living in India, you realize that you don’t have to travel the globe to enjoy all this excitement. From shopping at the flea markets of Goa to pushing through the large crowded trains of Mumbai; enjoying near death experiences in the Calcutta traffic and enjoying the walk along the colonial homes of Pondicherry are a few of the activities that we have enjoyed and still never tick it off my bucket list. We were awestruck by the sight of the magnificent Taj Mahal in Agra, the beautiful Islamic architectures of Delhi, the stunning blue-city views of Jodhpur, Le Corbusier's visionary designs at the greenest Chandigarh. We learnt a lot of history by wandering the extensive Nalanda university ruins; the massive palaces of Mysore; admiring the sculpted gods, elephants and dancers of Belur & Halebidu and the fascinating ruins of Vijaynagar near Hampi. Time stood still on the secluded beaches of Gokarna and the all the day water sports at the Murudeshwar beach gave us the ever needed adrenalin rush to move ahead. All our sorrows were drowned pub hoping through Bangalore and Mangalore. The fabulous restaurants of fort Cochin were a feast to our taste buds and spent a lot of time spotting mighty elephants in Wayand to soaking up the romantic mountain air in the lush green hills of Munnar. The calm white sandy beaches of Mamallapuram to the crowded streets of sweltering Chennai gave us a lot of variety within a single state. The ride in one of the oldest trains in Ooty and standing on the tip of India and watching the sun rise and set over two oceans at Kanyakumari deserves a special mention in any travelogue. A travel to my parental roots in Karaikudi and witnessing the rich and classy lifestyles of my fore-father has been an eye-opener. We enjoyed watching the women folks quarrelling over the beautifully woven sarees at Kanchipuram and the discovery of our spiritual side at Tirumala is a must have experience for everyone.

Prashanth has always been one of those quintessential travellers...someone who would pack his bags at the drop of a hat and head to cities far far away..... He made sure that he took in all the sights and sounds of the places he visited and always returned with interesting tales and photographs. I have always envied him for his freewheelin attitude that allowed him to see beyond just the "touristy" places and experience a place for what it truly is.
