Hi, We are Tarun and Archana(my wife) and both of us are software enggs working in Bangalore. We are recently married (3 months) and we are here because we love nature, trekking, long drives, photography and of course driving. For a typical holiday, we would prefer a place with very few people amidst nature to a commercial holiday spot. I have trekked the green route (the train route from Sakleshpur to Edakumeri), Bhramagiri hill (Wayanad), Eddakal Caves (Wayanad), Kodachadri hill(twice), Kemmannugundi and many more to come. My recent obsessions were horse riding, Photography (I bought a D-SLR). Last but not the least, I love to drive. I started driving at an early age of around 16 years. I now have my own car (a hyundai accent) and have driven almost 80,000 Kms in less than 4 years. That should tell you my passion towards driving !. Before that I used to drive my dads car. Long night drives have become a routine. My friends know I am the safest person to drive the car on a trip, all nigters are reserved for me. Apart from driving, I have also participated in many plantation drives. I worked with few NGOs for green causes and child support (Hope foundation, SAPPORT, www.treesforfree.org). For us, driving is a pleasure and not a means to get to a place. Please Vote for us. I urge all you people to: Use the roads responsibly and also do your part for the environment. Don't Drive as if you own the road, drive as if you own a car ! Stop littering, stop honking unnecessarily after all its our nature, our surroundings. Make a difference !

Our Travel Plan

We would like to include the following places in our route: We start from Mumbai go via all these places Ratnagiri (fort) Goa (beaches) Karwar (beach and port) Udupi (temple) Mangalore (beach) Kasaragod (Bekal Fort) Kozhikode (Port and beach) Wayanad (hill station) Mysore (enroute visit bandipur national park) Bangalore (garden city) Tumkur (DD Hills) Sira Hiriyur (Vani vilasa sagar dam) Chitradurga (Fort) Hosapete (TB Dam) Bijapur (Gol Gumbaz) Sholapur Pune and then back to Mumbai The total distance to cover these cities/places comes around 2700kms, but we intend to go off road to visit other places around these cities, which would make the distance covered more than 3000kms.

Our Travelogue

I have travelled to cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Alleppey, Munnar, Cochin, Agra, Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Goa, Pune, Mangalore, Mysore, Pondicherry, Karwar in India. Abroad I have been to cities like London and Bristol in UK and to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, San Jose, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon in the US. Other places that I have been to are Big Sur, Mystery Spot, Point Reyes, Universal Studios, Disney land in California, USA. The Roman Bath in UK. Being a nature enthusiast I have trekked the green route (train route from Sakleshpur to Edakumeri station, 26 kms), Brahmagiri hill-1608m(Western Ghats, Wayanad), Edakkal Caves-1000m(Wayanad), Kodachadri hill-1343m(twice), Kemmannu Gundi-1434m, Skandagiri-1350m(twice), Tirupathi-3200ft(thrice, my fastest record being 2hrs and 20 mins) and many more to come. Adventure sports: Rock climbing at Ram Nagar, rappling in Wayanad, water sports at Honnemaradu. Others places I have been to: Jungle Resorts Doddamakali, Pegasus Bangalore, Devarayan Durga Hills, Chitradurga, Nagarhole National Park, Bandipur National Park, Gokarna, Nandi Hills, Lokhadwala, Chamundi Hills, Vani Vilas Sagar Dam, Tunga Bhadra dam, Coorg. If there is one person other than myself I want to see at the driving wheel that has to be Tarun. We have known each other for about 10 year and I have been with him during most of the trips he has mentioned. Be it the music system in his car or the driving, I am such a fan. Will never forget blasting the "Du Hast Mich" song on his system.. FULL BLAST.. Travelling and driving are his passions and I have never seen him spend a weekend indoor ever. He is also a safe driver and maneuvers well even in the most crazy roads. He is a fun guy with jokes and satires all the while and its typically always non-stop laughter with him around. Tarun's collection of photos and videos of trips show a lot about his personality. I am sure the Great Driving Challenge will be a fantastic experience for Archana and him and I wish them lot of luck and fun.. Tarun, have a blast. you guys rock.. :)

"The Team Driver" or rather to be simplified, "Driver" is what we call this guy. He drives to work everyday and also offers lift to our colleagues en route. Its just not this that makes him apt for the name; it's his endless passion for driving. He enjoys it and I have never heard him complain about the long drives in traffic to office. In his bachelor days he used to travel a lot with friends and I thought may be getting committed would end that. But to my surprise, Archana turned out to be quite a sport and nowadays they and their married friends carry forward the tradition. It's hard to catch hold of this couple on weekends, but the best part for me is to wait for the following Monday to hear the desc.. of the weekend fun and the amazing snaps. He bought a D-SLR one year back and I am a fan of that camera and his photography. He carries his camera to office most of the days, hoping to click some nice snaps en route. When I found out that he had registered for the event, my first reaction was, "Who else, if not for Tarun and Archana? due to all the above reasons. His passion for driving and photography makes him a strong contender and with Archana's writing skills and assistance to his aid; they would well be one heck of a team to beat. Rivals, watch out!! I have my money on them to make it through to the finals. Wanna bet??
