If you are looking for a combo of crazy travelers, passionate photographers and rhetorical bloggers, your search ends here. Coz we are the uber cool couple (though we don't consider ourselves as two separate beings) of Kosha & Ritesh, who are, apart from being crazy about almost every other thing, are totally mad about each other. Both of us being scorpions, we share so so so many things between us. These sweet little coincidences played a huge role of catalyst to spark the passion between us after we met at a common friend's wedding (paving way to another wedding :D). Married for a little over one year, we have still been finding new things and thoughts that are common to both of us. So now here we are, the couple, who has lots of dreams and lots of wishes to be fulfilled, but all of them together. We are the super curious people for everything, be it knowledge, travel, food (yummy...), gadgets, music, etal. We believe in living the life to the fullest and glean small small magical moments from time to create a timeless scrapbook of happiness and love. Photography is in the veins of Kosha. What started as a small fad around two n half years back, has grown into a full-time passion for her. We have grown used to the usual question of "what is she doing in IT industry?". We both together have been to a lot of places, which she happily calls "shoots", just for taking pictures. Even to the extent of going to graveyards at midnight, and being chased by dogs and guards, to making weird stories to explain our presence at wee hours, to sneaking past the guards room! Ritesh has always stood beside Kosha and has actively participated in her passions. Ritesh is all into cars and driving. According to Ritesh, he feels refreshed rather than tired after a long long (as long as even 500 Kms in a day) drive. What travel means to us is to explore new domains and imbue new culture, cuisines and be enriched. As is rightly said, nothing can teach you as much as traveling. We plan to retire soon and become full-time travelers :D. Infact, our dream job would be to publish a travel magazine. And you never know, probably few years down the line, you may actually be reading a travel magazine from the publishing house of Kosha & Ritesh. We see this challenge as a signaling point for us to embark on a journey, which will satiate as well as create more thirst for traveling not just around India but across the globe.

We are the best candidates because...

We are the right blend of everything! Well, when we heard about this challenge, the first thing that struck both of us was...Wow! this looks like tailor-made for us. We both enjoy traveling, Ritesh is crazy about driving and Kosha for photography and blogging. And we both are gadget freaks, with so many wired and wireless devices thronging around in our apartment. We hang-out at digital stores rather than the usual time-pass places :D. And we have always wanted to do something like this (our plans of going to The Amazing Race Asia are still on) and with this challenge, it looks as if someone heard our wishes and granted them! :-)

Our Travel Plan

Mumbai --> Daman --> Tithal --> Gir Forest --> Somnath --> Veraval --> Junagadh --> Porbandar --> Marine National Park --> Lakhpat --> Pakistan border --> Bhuj --> Dholavira --> Patan --> Wild Ass Wildlife Sanctuary --> Dang Forests --> Ambapada --> Gira Falls --> Ahwa --> Silvassa --> Mumbai. We wish to take the more unexplored, unspoiled and virgin routes, places for which information is sparse but not locations - Gujarat. Gujarat has never been seen as a tourist destination. But what we see in Gujarat is a wide variety of places we can explore. Gujarat is full of places that will amaze anyone. And that is what we wish to unravel. We have decided to cover only one state, as we feel that we don't want to just tick a huge checklist. We would rather not go to a place then just touch and come back. We want to see, delve into, be bewildered and amazed. And keep enough time to conquer the unheard-of. We believe in quality not quantity. The expedition starts from Mumbai. The first stop in our great drive will be at Daman, to see the beautiful Portugese churches. From Daman we will drive to the pristine beaches of Tithal, and try to click some sunset pictures. The pit stop for the day will be at Surat. The morning after we will start for the Gir Forests driving through the main Gujarat and entering into Saurashtra and taking in the culture and cuisine on the way. Our second pit stop will be a watch tower near Kamleshwar Dam in Gir Forests. A morning safari, next day, into the Sasan Gir National Park to accost the fiery Asiatic Lions, will enthrall us. We would love to experience the culture within some Rabari establishments inside the National Park, and if possible have a meal with them. We will be staying overnight at Gir again. Next day morning, we will head towards the famous Somnath. After offering our prayings at Somnath, we will be heading to Junagadh with a small break at Veraval beach for capturing the huge fishing boats on our camera sensors. From there we drive to our next pit stop, Junagadh. The coming day will see chapters from history in form of Jungadh and Porbandar. After finishing our lessons, we will head to Salaya for a pit stop. Next day will be spent exploring the Marine National Park and beaches along like Narara (where it's possible at low tide to walk among the corals). And we will enter the Kutch area and have a pit stop at Bachau. Next day will be a trip to Lakhpat, the ghostly town. Lakhpat is the last town situated at the western end of India, on the India-Pakistan border, at the junction of Kori Creek and Rann of Kutch. After an adventurous day at Lakhpat, we will head to Bhuj for our next pit stop. Kutch is a land of myriad cultures and beautiful colors. Because of our great curiosity about the Kutchi culture, we will be staying a full day in Bhuj and exploring the lives, culture, cuisine and specially their arts. Also there are a lot of small colorful villages around Bhuj, like Dhordo, Hodka etal. We will try to imbibe as much as we can. We would love to catch some bhavais happening in the city of Bhuj. We have one more alternate plan for the day, but it is highly tentative, as its not completely in our hands. We dream to touch the Pakistan border and come. We are in the process of arranging the necessary permissions. :-) Next morning, our Cedia will head to Dholavira with small breaks to explore little jewels in the Rann of Kutch. The drive to Dholavira will involve driving across the Little Rann, which are vast salt plains. Dholavira sounds like a city out of those Mummy-type movies. Its the archaeological site for an ancient Harappan Township of Indus Valley Civilization. After having our hearts and minds full of the ancient history lessons we had in school, we will head to Radhanpur for our next pit stop. With our hearts still in Dholavira (which we are very sure of ;-)), we will travel to Patan to see the beautiful Rani Ki Vav (one of the largest and oldest stepwell). From Patan, we will be dashing towards Zainabad to have a evening Safari in the Wild Ass Sanctuary :D. Its the largest wildlife sanctuary in India, and the only Wild Ass Sanctuary in world. This is one of the last places on earth to spot the endangered species Khur. After that wild and bumpy ride, we will be back in the Cedia and off to Vadodara for the next pit stop. From Vadodara, we start off towards Waghai, which is the entry point to Dang district. From Waghai we move towards Ahwa, which is the head quarters of Dang district. The drive through the dang forests will be an adventure in itself, with little stoppages at Gira Falls and Ambapada (a typical Dangi adivasi village). Our pit stop for this part of Gujarat will be Ahwa, where we plan to see and even learn some Dangi dance :D. With our hips still shaking we will start from Ahwa the next morning for our final pit stop - Mumbai. Though, on the way, we wish to explore a bit of Silvassa and surrounding areas. Disclaimer 1: This is a tentative plan and is highly subjective to the mood and disposal of Mr. Monsoon! Disclaimer 2: Also, though we prefer making a detailed plan and be thorough with our research about the place, the places we visited so far have always offered us something more and we end up doing things which were not planned or known before. We wish that on this trip as well, we will be pleasantly surprised!

Our Travelogue

The travel bug has stung us hard! We just love to travel and wish to conquer the whole world. India being such a diverse country, we feel that traveling every week is also not enough to see and appreciate all of India. So we are on a constant push to go on traveling as much as we can. The life is too short and we have to make many journeys! :-) In last one year, we have been to a lot of places together, from driving through the 36 hair-pin bends of Ooty, to the lush green tea estates of Coonoor, to the lovely sights of East-Coast-Road (Chennai to Pondy), to the be-jeweled Maldives, to the enticing and mysterious forests of Bandhavgarh, to the geeky Tokyo and majestic Mt. Fuji, to the ever-green and beautiful Kodai Kanal, to the mystic backwaters of Alleppey and to the sounds of the great Nehru Trophy, to the ruins of Halebid & Belur, to the calls of the wild from Thekkady, to the arms of nature at Mt. Tadiyanmol (Coorg). We feel that our journey had just begun, and the world is waiting out there for us to come, see and conquer! This challenge is a perfect way to do it. Ritesh is a travel freak...he craves to explore places more than he craves for food...and his soulmate, Kosha is passionate photographer, so much as to that, during her wedding, she was busy taking pictures of her mandap and Ritesh, even while sitting on the stage.
