“Nothing so liberalizes a man and expands the kindly instincts that nature put in him as travel and contact with many kind of people” No one has articulated our sentiments about travelling as Mark Twain. And this is the common thread that binds us. Hi, we are Harish and Priyanka, best friends and travel partners for four years. And when we have some spare time, we also work as software consultants :) Just kidding! Together and individually, both of us have been fortunate to travel to many countries across the world, and experienced the different cultures and people that beautifully co-exist in this universe. What is intriguing to us is that as difficult as it is to fathom, it is just amazing to see how people with so many different beliefs and backgrounds live in perfect symphony with each other, and how nature just makes a place for each one of us in its colossal horizon. Life is short, and we know what we don’t have unlimited time with us. And for that reason, we want to make sure that every penny of our time is worth spent. And we really couldn’t think of a better way of spending it other than on travel, and in the process receiving plenty-folds. The experiences, the learning and the knowledge we can gain by travelling is more than any million dollar bill! To be able to share our existence with Mother Nature, to see it in its many avatars and to be one with it....ah, life couldn’t be more beautiful!! And with all its diversity and colourfulness, we possibly couldn’t find a better country than India, to satiate our need to understand (and pass on the knowledge) the different cultures, people and how nature fits it all together. This absolute need of ours to discover India in all its gloriousness, creating and sharing with the world, our most treasured lifelong moments along the way is what makes us the best candidates for this competition. We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures we can have if only we seek them.... ....our bags are packed!

We are the best candidates because...

Like many others, we are keen travelers. But unlike any other, our desires do not stop there! We believe travelling is a ‘world’ in itself, and offers many interesting and intriguing experiences. What a pity it would be not to pass on these experiences and knowledge to others. And that’s exactly what we aim to do if we get a chance to undertake this journey of discovering the hidden beauty and treasures of India. India has just so much to offer and this journey is perhaps the perfect first chapter in a new book of life. Having travelled 15 countries across the world; we have met people from many different cultures and observed their traditions from close quarters. At every opportunity, we have also passed on the knowledge about my culture and country. But that is just a drop in the ocean. There’s a long story yet to be told and we want to be add in my two cents to this story. Our strategy: when in Rome, do as the Romans do! We do not travel as a tourist, but become ‘one of its own’ wherever we go. That, we believe, is the only way you can get a real picture. Now would people want to deprive themselves of knowledge as authentic as that!?! Give us a chance to discover India, and we vow to spread the knowledge as far and wide as we can. And this is exactly what sets us apart from the crowd: our thirst for discovering our country and our need to bring it to the world. Oh, and did I happen to mention: Mitsubishi was my first love ;-) (and still remains)

Our Travel Plan

Let me start by stating that we are ecstatic about being behind the wheels in the new Mitsubishi Cedia. The Cedia, combined with exotic places and a good camera spells “pure pleasure!” Now, about where we plan to go with this lethal combination, well, someone said “a good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving” And we truly believe in this. However, as this is a competition with limited time on our hands, this trip will be an exception. Meticulous planning with a clearly chalked out plan is how we will approach this trip, to help us make the best use of the time we have. Our destinations: from Mumbai to Mysore and back. Being epicureans and connoisseurs, we tried to cover Scotland of India (Coorg), due to its famous delicacies, coffees and of course scenic beauties, to the national park of Bandipur, beaches of Goa to the forts of Ratnagiri. During this trip, we also want to witness the untouched, unexplored places in these cities, which have not been captured even by Google!. So here’s our travel plan laid out for you… Day #1: Kolhapur (via Lonavala)… an ancient Indian city, famous for its food, headwear, footwear, jewellery, wrestling and religious connections and many more. Here the Devi Lakshmi always dwells....maybe we get lucky enough and get her blessings :) Day #2: Hubli… apart from being an important industrial centre. This city has lot to offer for visitors. The famous & beautiful Nrupatunga Betta that enhances the beauty of the Chandramouleshwara Temple in its backdrop. Nrupatunga Hill, a hillock offering a pleasing panoramic view of the entire city is located on the North-Eastern fringe of Hubli. The span of this panoramic view extends from Amargol in the North, to the Airport in the West all the way to the Southern parts of Hubli. It is a popular location for morning-walkers and especially in the evenings for the youth of Hubli to spend time. Day #3: Bellary… The city stands in the midst of a wide, level plain of black cotton soil.It has Hampi, World Heritage Site. Tunga Bhadra Dam. Day #4: Bengaluru… is known as the ‘Silicon Valley of India’. But we would like to explore the non IT side of Bangalore, viz. Tipu Sultan Palace and India's biggest Iskcon Temple. Day #5: Bandipur National Park… one of India's best known protected areas. Famous for its flora and fauna; I am sure, Safari and Camping inside the jungle would surely be a great experience on its own. Day #6: Coorg ... ‘Scotland of India’; it is one of the favorite destinations in Karnataka. Misty hills, lush forest, acres and acres of tea and coffee plantation, orange groves, undulating streets and breathtaking views are what make it an unforgettable destination. And I am already drooling over mouth watering Bamboo Shoot Curry, Jungle Mango Curry and Rice Roti. Day #7: Bhatkal… Famous for Ancient Monuments like Chinnadapalli, a Mosque, Sultan palli, Chandranath Basadi, Basti, and a beautiful sight of Kadavinakatta dam built across Venkatapur river. Day #8: Palolem beach… Paradise of Goa that stretches between two magnificent headlands lined with towering coconut palms that would turn out to be an ideal place to relax our mind, body and soul after a long drive. How can we forget local kaju feni...:-) Day #9: Ratnagiri a port city on the Arabian Sea. It has lot to offer. From Jaygad, 17th century fort nestled on a cliff at the entrance of the Sangameshwar River, to Caves in Chiplun. Day #10: From Mahabaleshwar, which has one of the few evergreen forests of the world, back to Amchi Mumbai.

Our Travelogue

Albeit we haven’t travelled together extensively, but individually our travel experiences consist of travelling across the globe right from Asia and Europe to the Americas.I have seen the wondrous Yosemite Nation Park in the west coast of US and the Shenandoah National Park in the East coast. I have also seen the Disneyland in Irvine as well as Paris. From English Channel to Mediterranean Sea I have covered quite a bit . I remember seeing The Leaning Tower of Pisa and ofcourse our beautiful Taj Mahal in Agra. I really fancy the great work of Michael Angelo’s David and Vinci’s Mona Lisa. Infact, Priyanka & I met for first time in Bournemouth: the beautiful city near the English Channel. Having gone sailing in the pacific ocean & swimming in Atlantic, I cant decide which was more enigmatic! And what an experience it was to go skiing in the Alps, and ofcourse Mountain Biking in Black Forest. Through my travelling expeditions, I have met starkly different people; from the simple people of Portugal to the techies of Japan, travelling has been a wide ranging experience. And how can we forget, the memorable white river rafting in the Ganges together.Have seen palaces in Rajasthan, the Beautiful beaches in Goa to the beautiful hills of Kasauli, I have tried to cover the various aspects of nature.Yes, you may argue we have seen it all! But i guess not...there’s always more to be explored and experienced! It can never be enough....
