Total Vote(s) : 12 | Total Testimonial(s) : 1

My name is Soumyajit and my spouse's name is Payal. We met each other during our University days of MCA. We both studied in the same institute and got to know each other. We got married on the 12th of September 2003 and have been enjoying the longest and important phase of life since. Since 2003, Payal has worked in the areas of Education, Banking and Content Management with Kendriya Vidyalaya, ICICI Bank and Ness Technologies (India) Ltd. Since 2007, she decided to turn into a homemaker and has been instrumental in keeping our house into a beautiful home. I have been working for the last 5 years in the area of Information Technology. Currently, I work as a Team Lead with Persistent Systems Ltd. We are here because we both love exploring new places and we do it the best together. Payal and I have enjoyed this common taste of ours during the last 5 years of our marital life and we continue to explore new places to keep us going. Our mantra... "Keep on travelling!"

We are the best candidates because...

We are the best candidates because we know the essence of enjoyment and happiness during travelling. Every year we travel to some new destination in India to explore the people, culture, food and the landscapes. Our list includes, Manali, Goa, Panchgani, Ahmadnagar, Ooty, Matheran, Pench Zoological Park, Bhubaneswar, Puri, etc. We both enjoy long drives and I love driving on highways. We have covered distances of 1000 kms in one day. Our list includes driving from Mumbai to Ahmadnagar and back (2 times), Mumbai to Pune and back (several times), Pune to Goa and back (2 times), Pune to Panchgani and back (once), Goa to Nagpur (once). When we travel, we both love to shoot videos, take pictures, observe the lifestyle of a place and meet people. During our long drives, we make it a point to stop by at interesting places that we cross during our course of journey and observe the demography around. We have always planned our trips using maps and stopovers to have an endearing journey altogether. Payal and I know that we can account for every sec of the 3000 km journey with the type of picture and video that could fully define a moment, a place, a person and the nature around the visual. I always wanted to write however I could do very little due to my weekly schedule. This break will give us the opportunity and reason to live our dreams and blog on 3000 km and that is a “dream come true”!

Our Travelogue

Payal and I have not travelled outside India. We have travelled a lot in India due to my change of work locations from Mumbai to Pune, Pune to Goa and lastly Goa to Nagpur. As we had a car, I had to drive to all these locations, which we considered good opportunities for us. Our journeys from Pune to Goa and from Goa to Nagpur have been very exciting due to the distance between the source and destination. Some of our past travel experiences are listed below… 1. Kolkata to Puri via Bhubaneswar: This was a family trip and my parents were travelling with me. We went to Bhubaneswar by Dhauli Express and then booked a private cab from Bhubaneswar to Puri. We had a nice time visiting the Jagannath temple and the beaches of Puri. 2. Mumbai to Ooty via Coimbatore: We took a flight to Coimbatore, stayed overnight in a hotel. Next day morning, we hired a private cab to reach Ooty in 3-4 hours. We enjoyed the Ooty lake, Botanical garden and the market place. 3. Kolkata to Manali via New Delhi: We took a flight to New Delhi and reached in the morning. Our private cab was booked from New Delhi, which picked us up from the airport to head to Manali. We reached in 13-14 hours stopping by at a small village for lunch and at BIlaspur for dinner. 4. Mumbai to Ahmadnagar via Pune: We drove down to Ahmadnagar, which is 300 km in distance and a six hour journey. We enjoyed the scenic beauty of Lonavala and Pune on the way. We stopped at Pune for refreshments. 5. Pune to Panchgani: We drove down to Panchgani, which is a 2 hour journey and enjoyed the largest plateau of Asia by creating a tent and cooking our own food on the table top. 6. Pune to Goa: Driving down to Goa, which is 600 km from Pune was a beautiful trip. We started after our diner. The first 450 km distance was on the Golden Quadrilateral of India (NH-4, Mumbai to Chennai). The highway was smooth and the road after entering Karnataka was even better till we reached Belgaum, where we took a tea break. The final 150 km on NH 4A was not very pleasant however we enjoyed every sec of it as the road was different and difficult to deal with. 7. Goa to Nagpur: We started our drive at 5 pm. We took a overnight halt at Belgaum at a distance of 150 km and then continued on the remaining part of 1000 km at 7:30 am next morning. We reached Nagpur at 1:30 am early in the morning the next day with small halts at Sholapur, Latur and Nanded. 8. Nagpur to Pench National Park: The distance was of 80 km and the exciting part was the Tiger Safari. We hired a jeep and a guide for Rs. 1600 and enjoyed the serenity and the sound of jungle for 5 hours. We could not spot any tiger but the beauty of the jungle was immense.
