We have made a deal; wherever we travel, we have to take one pic of us with a souvenir from that place and put it in our room. What adorns the wall of our room is water oozing, Merlion, the symbol of Singapore, the magestic magnificence of Pyramids and the Sphinx and the fluorescent night lights of New York. It's been 4 years to our marriage, and we have covered 3 international destinations and few domestic, which include Udaipur, and Kodai Kanal. The most adventurous of them all was the land of Pharaohs, the mystic city of Cairo. The bustling streets, the constant chatter of the traders, the incessant haggling of the tourist with the vendors, it all made it look like the city meant business. It felt great to see the open spaces, different people with different culture, speaking different language, eathing different food. It just feels good to know new things. The world is huge. One think I remember very vividly is that whenever we were asked where are we from and when we would say India, almost all of them exclaimed..."ohhhhhh Amitabh Bachchan!!!". see, India is the new world. The other interesting journey was our first journey - to Kodai Kanal. It was our honeymoon. Actually we were all set to go to Goa for our honeymoon (like most honeymooners do...i know i know). But what changed the destination to Kodai Kanal was a chance hit on a web site while I was looking for hotels in Goa. I came across this web site of a hotel called Villa Retreat. The moment I saw the picture of a view from a hotel room, I told myself, this is what I want to gift my wife - a fantastic view of the valley from a room beautifully perched on top a cliff. I still feel like going there again for a few days just to enjoy the view. And the best part was it wasn't just the hotel, the hotel staff, too, were extremely helpful. In fact, when I wanted to surprise my wife with a cake and some Champagne, the staff went out of their way for me to arrange for the stuff. Well, that is one memory we will never forget.
