I have been up since 5AM, and just finished reading through each and every one of your posts, pictures, videos. You guys made my all misty-eyed - oh man - really! Unni discovered the amazing “flag-makers”, and Gaurav took us to Dhobi Ghat. @Doc/Elena - I really loved that guy in that beret, and your documentary - never been there yet :( Rishi you captured the angels in the slums so poignantly - and of course your music track (sneaked in the champions bit, huh); and Charu - that passing remark from the mehendi seller on Chowpatty is going to haunt you some time - right? Maya - I am glad you found aamchi mumbai -‘satisfying, spicy, eclectic’. Rooshad - there was no need to wake me up from my “Sapna” - you want to get me slaughtered? Mad or what? Hey Pavithra - I am glad you are hooked to Vada Pao - the Mc versions are on their way. Jumbo King and GoliVada et al. So ain’t I glad you guys got the taste of the real thing. Amit - Jhakkas, Bindaas, DhinChak - you guys captured it all - loved the ties - I am going to hunt them down Radhika - your pictures still melt my heart - remember the brickbats when I posted them first on the blog? Thomas _ i am glad you did the caves. This is one place that completely captivates you, as you stand in front of that amazing vista and imagine the times before Christ - that same very spot, monks scurrying around. The close up of those eyes were fantastic. Jo-Nam Thanks to you tweets and Rupesh tailgating you, I followed you down the entire trip. Nam you looked cute but Jo - you forgot to spike, buddy. You guys are ALL amazing, and I do not even want to start thinking about what the judges are thinking. But quoting a comment from Prof Dilip D/Souza who closely follows this blog (and now is fighting a limerick battle with me offline), I hope the esteemed Jury reads through each and every word of these 11 amazing stories you guys published yesterday night, and clicks on every video, (which I guess is being buffered ahead of time by Team TGDC). I salute you all, my friends.
The deserving 12 !! but sadly it would hurts to think of 9 being left back at this junction of their Dream Journey !! ...The top 3’s Thrill will be shared by every one but i am with you too - the unlucky 9 - you have not lost anything other than a Contest in fact gained a lot from this lively experience !! ...cheers to all. ks

From what I understand from our offline partners, DrivoBlog couple had to drop out because of unavailability.

Just read all the blogs and all are very nice and very detailed. Tough for judges to finalize the top 3!

Now thats a stunner! Why in God’s name would anyone want to drop out of a contest of this magnitude?

There are no ‘unlucky ones’ anywhere. Every experience has something that can be put into words or pics and shared with everyone else… and it is this ‘sharing’ that creates a world of its own. Good to read about the varied experiences that the top 12 are having. I do hope that the ‘top 12’ are also as interested in the blogs of the ‘top 100’ as there will always be little snippets that may carry relevance for them. Like many other competitions, a few ‘wild card’ entries have the power and the potential to bring in a lot of exxxxxtra zing, zest, and zzzzoom to what the TGDC is attempting.

Oh god ! I am so-so -so jealous!! Let me share my inner most - darkest secret with you. After being shortlisted for the top 100, we were elated! We literally jumped and screamed and hugged each other (onlookers must ‘ve thought we had gone crazy!). But when we didnt make it to the top 12….total depression!! We kept sulking for days and wondering what had gone wrong and where? Typical sour losers…we even refused to follow or become fans of the top 12!! Yeah I know…pretty dark stuff!! But then curiosity got the better of us, and we really wanted to see what’s up with these 12 dudes! And now that i have got a peek into the fun that they are having…..I wish I had not peeked!! Ignorance IS bliss!! Oh my heart…my achy breaky heart!! But if the rumour about the 2nd season is true…...we will be all geared up and ready to win!!! Watch out for us!! In the mean time…..All the Best to the top 12 (ouch! my heart!!)....may the best win!!

Sandip we need to know that why this couple dropped out at the 11th hour ??? ....It was kept a secret till this post came today ...TGDC was Silent for last 72 hours when the top 11 couples arrived at Royal Palms ! ....Till Amit Sharma Pointed out !...and we kept mentioning about top 12 in our comments and no one bothered to tell us that it’s only 11 !! Your reply appear very vague and as strong as the class room lie !! ...TGDC had their e-mail, Contact Number and a Valid address which was verified after announcing the Top 12 before Mumbai Audition. Then who are these OFFLINE Partners ????...

@Arvind Passey I too suggested “wild card entry” long ago !! but TGDC appear to flexible on certain rules !! they have an interesting Mathematical Puzzle !! ....from 1060 subtract 960 and then subtract 91 and add 3 to it then minus the 12th then subtract 8 !! .....and now the best part would be ....wait for the Holy smoke !! .......it won’t come till you add another 2 !! .....Guys ! won’t be surprised if Holy smoke brings out 5 for Drive off !! ....but they have only 3 cars !

@KS One of the TOP 12 team (Drivobloggers) could not make it to the Mumbai selections, due to a personal circumstance beyond their control. This happened way after the documentation was signed and verification process completed. They requested the organizers to consider a change in team members. The request was passed on to our offline partners (Encompass) and HML. After due consideration the decision conveyed was negative. The decision was also made to continue to feature Drivobloggers, on the TOP 12 list and TGDC site, because of their positive attitude. They even qualified for the prize due to 9 teams who do not make it to the finals. I am not at liberty to share any more details, because that will be considered violation of privacy. Needless to mention several fans of Drivobloggers at EC were heart-broken when the decision was conveyed to us. Drivobloggers may be reached on their blog which is in public domain.

And so it begins and so it ends…. I was away most of the day…. driving the wife to her office(we had a “poop picture on the wall” moment today when we woke up… our first, so wife was too rattled to drive herself to work…. for the uninitiated that happens when your infant wakes up before you do and successfully pulls off her poop laden diaper and proceeds to investigate….. don’t…. don’t start to imagine it’ll ruin your lunch for a few weeks), then to her brothers place across town, then cousins place at another end etc. etc. Rakshabandhan!! Got back an hour ago… well I guess a lot happened today and we’ll all know which way the wind flows tomorrow…. hopefully all of the people whom I predicted for the top3 spots would make it in but then if not I guess so far is good enough and all the 12, including Tirthankar & Mampa who had to opt out for personal reasons, are equals…. looking at the blogs and the pictures I am quite inspired to start organizing my stuff not in preparation for any competition but just because I realized how proper organization and presentation can work wonders for the way you are perceived and in the world today perception is everything…. it’s like 60% ability 40% perception….. without the 40% you’re not in the race!! So my take away from the competition so far, besides the fact that I am humbler about my writing and photography skills, is that one needs to be more organized for everything in life to be a success….. also I got in touch with a lot of friends and clients(some of them from 4 years ago who had work they are now outsourcing to me just coz I sent them a mail using the TGDC form and reminded them of this geek who had worked with them long back…. networking) Anyways here’s to a GoodNight and a great day ahead….. -imtiaz

the blogs are very good. everyone had their own vision of mumbai painted on TGDC canvas. Very good indeed. Is there a wild card entry/prize TGDC? :o) Just kidding. Or, maybe not? :o) Cool gadgets to be won. Cool watches delivered. Its just going to be the coolest challenge so far.
