A travelogue has quite a few definitions in the dictionary, but is generally understood to be a personal account of a trip, journey or otherwise. It can be in the form of written notes, pictures, video or even lectures. Our Jury has been reading your travelogue with lot of interest. The impressions you shared about your drives and the depth of your chronicles carried more weight than just a regurgitation of names, places (around the world) and log of distances covered. The pictures were judged both for quality and relevance to your travelogue. Overall the travelogue served as “evidence” of your ability to take up the great driving challenge. Talking of driving challenges (of the other kinds) on road, here is something to lighten you up. Our travel-logs have been in a little red book that Prabha carries to all our trips… recorded in it is information on how much petrol we put at what bunk at what rate…. where we had lunch… where we stayed… and most importantly where we should watch out for bad roads (should we happen to pass-by the same road again) TGDC has helped (or should I say forced ) us to transfer some of those experience from paper to the internet/blog. In less than 24 hours we will know if we have reached the next stage… but this contest has helped me get back to writing… and I’m loving it!

Everyone travels ! Everyone moves around ! Everyone takes a break for various reasons ! Some travel in comforts of Executive class to distant places across oceans ! Some travel in a chauffeur driven Car ! Some prefer to be behind the steering wheel. Some sweat it out. Some are immobilized without a Sun screen lotion. Some have a planned Time share booking. Some pack and go with uncertainty and may spend night in the car when no accommodation is available. Some keep going in the same direction frequently and some explore a unknown route and sometimes with a language barrier especially people going North from TN without knowing Hindi and vice versa. Some ride the bike and have a frost bite. Very few try it out on bicycles. For some AC room is a must…. for some open air is a luxury ! For some blisters and back pain are worse nightmares ! and few others enjoy even with a fractured toe ! ....but then the fact is - eveyone travels !! .....We have always done our long road travels in a challenging way.

Whatever the outcome of this contest be, it sure has been an exciting experience! We’d never imagined that what is a passion for us (driving and writing about it) would one day form the basis of a contest. It’s almost like a dream come true. One has realized that chronicling the precious moments spent on the road keeps it fresh in one’s memory…you just need to log in and go back in time, reliving all those thrilling moments. Thanks TGDC team for adding that extra zing to our passion! May the best couple win (despite some ugly happenings).

Interestingly, when we filled the application, the question we were asked to share some of our travel experiences and not a travelogue. Asking to share a travel experience and asking to write a travelogue is a little different.

Right through applying for the GDC till date we have been very excited about this challenge and enjoyed every moment. Whether it was writing our introduction or giving an account of our travel experiences - the travelogue or posting our posting blog , planning the route on google map along with day to day itenary for our GDC was the most learning experience..

This is awesome, I really love the way the suspense is unfolding…... in a very organized and structured way. We definitely feel that the TGDC team has really done a lot of ground work before embarking on this and is handling this in a very professional way - especially publicly acknowledging the service glitches that happened on their e mail server in the initial stages and the action taken to rectify the same. Kudos to you and the teams behind you and we only wish that we make it into the next round and let me tell you that this has indeed been a very exiting journey of participating in the great driving challenge….. Best Regards

at this moment i’m reminded of the famous song by Doris Day…“QUE SERA SERA, WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BE, THE FUTURE’S NOT OUR TO SEE”......even as i am writing this i am listening to this beautiful song, trying to hold on to my nerves…but ...gosh!!!!.nothin seems to ward off my nervousness…the clock is ticking and my heart is racing….hope this will end soon…and of course with a smile on my lips ...

Having found out about this contest rather late in the day, we know we can’t match up to lots of others when it comes to the vote count, but we’re hoping our travelogue speaks for itself! The complete day by day account of all our trips ( including the ones not mentioned in our travelogue ) are up on our blog. We’re the kinds who just don’t go visiting places, but try and explore everything about the place which includes straying off the beaten track. Rohit is an avid blogger who’s been blogging since 2006 about everything under the sun, but I don’t think even he really thought that his blog would come in handy for a contest like this! Whether we get selected or not, we’ve given it our best shot, and it’s been an exciting few days, with all our friends, colleagues and family joining in! We definitely need to have more contests of this kind! Seeing our name in the top 100 would definitely drive away the usual Monday morning blues though! From whatever we’ve read of the jury, we’re sure they’re fair and doing their best, It’s not an easy job to go through the applications that have come pouring in! May the best teams get through! Divya and Rohit

Whether we make it or not in the finalists, we will still do the route we have proposed. Thanks GDC for helping us to discover it.

Thanks TGDC team, three cheers to the jury! They proved that honesty and a fair game does value! We have made it to top 100 ! First! Thanking sent to all friends and family who voted for us. We love you guys! Re-checked all the stuff in my large Kata bag full of SLR stuff. Video camera pulled out and ready for a shoot. Some cool dresses taken out and ironed. Getting ready for all the terrains we can get during the drive. Fingers crossed ! We hope to get shortlisted for the next level. Very very good luck and best wishes to the top 100 couples.

A picture is worth a thousand words! Our photographs are our travelogue. What best way can it be to describe the experience that your have on an exciting trip like this? We are definitely polishing our writing skills and blowing the dust off our writing passion which got buried in the daily tensions of project deadlines and other usual stuff. We are getting reminded of all our trips made on the mere 100cc bike to the royal enfield and the car. This one is definitely going to make a big difference to our experiences. We also feel that people who could not make it to top 100, may not necessarily be less competitive. It is just that on TGDC platform, the jury had to fit in 100 couples only. We are definitely geared to start a new blog and website for everyone who has been a part of this exciting challenge, and everyone who wanted to be. Being software engineers give us the extra edge to start such community and keep it vibrant.
