Cedia’s big brother gets stuck

Posted By thecouple

Our search for Jain temples near Mananthawadi took us to a small lane through coffee plantations. A board by Kerala Tourism department clearly stated “Jain Temple”. Full of slush, the uneven lane looked risky. So Cedia’s big brother, Pajero decided to check it out first. And this is what happened.

No tricks in the book worked. Finally, we managed to get a tractor to pull the vehicle out.

Drop the tire pressures to 10psi. Lock center diff. 4WD low and you’d be out of there. Only hope you were carrying a Air compressor to inflate the tires after. Cheers!

The 2nd option would be to Rock n’ roll. Forward and backward movements in quick succession with minute changes in the direction of the front wheels to get it out of the rut and onward into your journey. Good luck

Hey don’t blame the poor Pajero now. I’ve seen one get out of worse conditions. if you notice the tire treads have filled up and its getting no grip. he left fender is too close to the post to maneuver it safely out of the rut. With all due respects to the driver who I know is capable of handling this machine on tarmac. maybe the diffs were not locked is my guess. A 4WD does not mean you cannot get into trouble. In capable hands its the Ultimate Machine and the Pajero is no walk over. Dated it might be but the Inter cooled 2.8 liter Turbo diesel engine is a monster with some amazing torque. The Pajero is the last of the frame built 4 x 4’s. In my mind this one is the one to have with independent front suspension. She could have gotten out of the above situation without help.

hi ajay/anand,

harish is an expert in automobiles. so you take his word.

the place it got stuck, the side embakement gave way and the tyre went deep inside. 4wD does not mean that it will never get stuck.
