I, Mrinalini, hope to be joining my father, Hemant Tiwari, on another of those long (suffixed with distance, not drawn) road journeys that we embark on at least twice every year. I can say I have seen it all – from a Premier Padmini, to a Maruti 800, an Opel Astra and now to a Ford Endeavour. I can hardly wait to start off with my dad behind the wheels of the impressive Mitsubishi Cedia. My father is a veteran IT professional and has driven extensively, especially with my mother, for the last 33 years on various terrain -- the hills of Darjeeling and Sikkim, Uttarachal & Himanchal Pradesh, Vindhya and satpura ranges to Nilgiris not to miss the most beautiful Western Ghats during mansoons, the length and breadth of India and the coastlins of east, west & south, and the contrastingly disciplined streets of Malaysia,Singapore, Australia, parts of Europe and US.The only states that we have not driven on is Arunachal, Tripura & Nagaland, J&K.and the desert of Rajasthan (even though he has driven on the deserts of Gulf). In fact, for the last decade or so, either our Astra or the Endeavour has been the main mode of transport when we travel. We as a family are always ready to take to the road at the drop of a hat. On numerous occasions, we’ve even camped the night in our car while driving from Mumbai to Ooty where we three siblings studied. Now, over to me-- I am proud to be associated with the tinsel town. I am an actor and have been an assistant director. I also paint and sculpt, in spare time. As a child I’ve been exposed to a lot of traveling all over India with my parents. My dad is extremely passionate about driving and something that I’ve inherited too. With us, the daughter-father duo, you can expect the level-headed side of experience and the daredevil side of youth!

Hi, We are Tarun and Archana(my wife) and both of us are software enggs working in Bangalore. We are recently married (3 months) and we are here because we love nature, trekking, long drives, photography and of course driving. For a typical holiday, we would prefer a place with very few people amidst nature to a commercial holiday spot. I have trekked the green route (the train route from Sakleshpur to Edakumeri), Bhramagiri hill (Wayanad), Eddakal Caves (Wayanad), Kodachadri hill(twice), Kemmannugundi and many more to come. My recent obsessions were horse riding, Photography (I bought a D-SLR). Last but not the least, I love to drive. I started driving at an early age of around 16 years. I now have my own car (a hyundai accent) and have driven almost 80,000 Kms in less than 4 years. That should tell you my passion towards driving !. Before that I used to drive my dads car. Long night drives have become a routine. My friends know I am the safest person to drive the car on a trip, all nigters are reserved for me. Apart from driving, I have also participated in many plantation drives. I worked with few NGOs for green causes and child support (Hope foundation, SAPPORT, www.treesforfree.org). For us, driving is a pleasure and not a means to get to a place. Please Vote for us. I urge all you people to: Use the roads responsibly and also do your part for the environment. You are looking at a couple who have been best friends and travel partners since 1995. As we share similar values, zest for life and love of the outdoors and each other, we decided to marry six years ago. Hashim is an adventure sports professional while I am a freelance writer in addition to being a full time mom to our two year old son. We are Mumbaikars. Hashim comes from a family of rally enthusiasts, is the car expert in our family and is very happy to behind the wheel for hours. He is also the proprietor of the company Wanderstruck – the adventure consultants to several popular reality shows on television – and is an expert at skiing, water-skiing, para-gliding, rock climbing, rappelling and other outdoor activities. Over the last 14 years (in what feels like another lifetime to me) I worked as a flight attendant with Delta Airlines, a client service manager at Fountainhead - the promotions and events management firm and a part-time radio jockey with Times FM while pursuing a BA at St. Xavier’s College. Travel has been a big part of our lives. There have been skiing trips in India, snorkelling at Lakshadweep, trekking around the country, sightseeing around Rome and Paris, gambling in Las Vegas and more recently, road trips around India with our baby. The concept of the Great Driving Challenge is just too good for us to pass up – so here we are, baring our souls and hoping to make it on a dream drive of 3000 kms in a Mitsubishi Cedia.

We are here as we see this as an opportunity to publicise our dream and to attract some sponsors, who will help in turning this dream into a reality. That we love travelling goes without our having to say so. However, we will definitely mention about our travels in the appropriate sections and blogs. The dream mentioned before is to complete a “perimeter drive” of India – a drive that will take us as close to India’s borders as the roads permit. This drive is planned for the summer of 2010 and we need sponsors to help with expenses regarding a suitable vehicle, fuel, stay, etc. We intend to use this opportunity provided by the Mitsubishi sponsored Great Driving Challenge as a springboard to publicise our perimeter drive plan. After all, the organizers of TGDC who are sponsoring about 10,000 kms for 3 drivers and 36 days (3 couples) and providing 3 cars for a fun contest , serving no other purpose and offering Rs 10 lakhs as prize money can surely afford to provide us with an SUV, all expenses paid for a family of 4, for about 20,000 kms to be done in about 30 days (thats's 700 km per day average over 30 days with 1 driver compared to the 250 kms average over 12 days with 2 drivers) and provide some money for the diabetic fund, which is a nobel cause and should be money well spent. We will be glad to do the Great Drive Challenge, if selected and will be delighted if our perimeter drive is sponsored by the GDC team. But if none of these happen, be assured that we will find someone who believes in us and our dreams.

Hi Masuma & Huzaifa from 'Amchi Mumbai'. I met my wife online, on a chat site some 10 yrs back (Paltalk.com). We started chatting.. & one fine day (almost after a year and a half) I asked her out for a date, which she flatly refused.. that is when I came to knw she was from Dubai... Cut 2 -- My parents reached her house with our marriage proposal and we got married in Mumbai on 19th May 2002. Currently I am working with the Royal Bank of Scotland in Mumbai as IT Infrastructure Service Delivery Manager, at the same time my beloved manages our house, family and parents & of course me..... Driving has been my passion.. It was just that one first session the driving instructor took for my mom which stayed in my mind... At home I visualized what ever the instructor said…. A couple of days from then and my parents went out of town for a few days. I bribed my brother to drive the moped and I took the car…. Surely when they were back they managed to know what we had done during the weekend. However I had to wait for around 4 yrs when I would turn 18 to officially get a license to drive.

Hey, this is Vishal. Started business when i was in my teens, now I am an architect and a builder by profession. At heart though I am a travel freak, a petrolhead & a professional 4 wheel Rallyist. Her other interests include acting, niche reading, radio, music, dance, biking and trekking. She has also worked with underprivileged communities and recently spent time with tribal children in the Nilgiris, teaching them spoken English and sensitizing them to environmental issues. She helped them produce and perform a programme on radio for World Environment Day 2009.

Sunaina is an adventurer looking for her treasure and has a brilliant time in trying out everything which comes her way. Deepan (classic blend of Sean Connery and Jim Carrey) is yet another explorer on the lookout for his discovery which he believes he is destined for. Working together for almost two years now, we are perfect at scrapping each others heads out and taking fun out to galore….

Thanks to the nature of our business we got many opportunities to travel all over India. We enjoy our trips by converting them into Business Cum Pleasure Tours.
