Our Travelogue
As a child, our family used to organise short trips spanning from 3 days (long week-ends) to 7 days since my father was a very busy businessman. Hence, most of our trips used to be outings to places close to Mumbai such as Lonavala-Khandala, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar, Mangaon, Pen, Alibaug, Pune and Nasik. My first ever international trip was to Nepal for a full 2 weeks and it was an amazing experience, especially since there were 4 families travelling together and all the teenagers in the group had a ball. Travel during college was restricted to regular 2-3 day outings with friends. Post marriage in Dec 1999, my honeymoon with travel began (pun intended). My wife, who is also a travel freak and loves to drive, turned out to be a true partner sharing my passion for visiting places and soaking in the local culture and cuisine of every destination. We went for a 26 day long trip to Bhutan, Gangtok, Darjeeling & Nepal for our honeymoon and I discovered my wife’s penchant for photography. She likes to put together albums for every trip that we take and caption them so that we can sit back and refresh our memories later on. Over the years, we have been to numerous destinations including the local getaways mentioned above as well as to far-off places such as Ahmadabad, Vadodara, Mehsana, Rajkot, Abu, Udaipur, Nathdwara, Jaipur, Nainital, Delhi, Agra, Kulu Manali, Shimla, Ooty, Kodai Kanal, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Munnar, Thekdy, Cochin, Kolam, Alleppy, Coimbatore, Mysore, Hoggenical, Bandipur, Bangalore, Sangli, Hyderabad, Srisailam. We have truly enjoyed all our sojourns across the length and breadth of our beautiful country and each trip has been memorable and enriching. As regards travelling abroad is concerned, we have had the privilege to visit the breath-taking Mauritius island more than once courtesy my sister and brother-in-law who was posted there on work. We have also had the opportunity to visit them in Singapore on their second posting and having local hosts has showed us the advantages of getting to know and see a place through a local’s eyes and visiting off-the-beaten track places and eateries and becoming a part of the city/country one is visiting. Our travel experiences so far have only made us desire to explore newer places and enjoy as well as educate ourselves and now, our kids, in the process. Given the busy schedules that we all have, it gets difficult at times to plan for an elaborate holiday. However, at every opportune time, we try and sneak out a short break here and there to satiate the traveller within us. We have also become a member of “Club Mahindra” to take advantage of their resorts / hotels at exotic destinations in India and through their tie-ups with international time-sharing companies abroad. It is my deepest desire to retire healthy and wealthy and traverse across the globe to feast all the senses and soul and truly admire the immense beauty and diversity that nature has endowed planet Earth with.
