Mahatma Gandhi led the Dandi march from his Sabarmati Ashram to Dandi, Gujarat to produce salt without paying the tax, with growing numbers of Indians joining him along the way. Sabarmati Ashram, Ahmedabad 485kms Sabarmati Ashram is located in the Ahmedabad suburb of Sabarmati adjoining to famous Ashram Road, at the bank of River Sabarmati,4 miles away from the city Town Hall.This was one of the residences of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.This ashram is now converted in to the national monument by the Government of India due to its significance in Indian independence movement in the form of Dandi March in 1930.
