Our Travelogue
Between the two of us, we have travelled to the sand dunes of the thar in Jaisalmer, forts and palaces in Udaipur and Jaipur, temples of Mt. Abu, hills of Patnitop and the shrine in Vaisho Devi, the snow covered reaches in Himachal, the hills of Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Darjeeling, Shillong, the beaches in Goa, Kovalam, Pondicherry and Mahabalipuram. We both love wildlife travel and have been to quite a few sanctuaries some of which are Corbett, Nagarhole, Tholpetty, Muthanga. Unfortunately, the Tiger has still been elusive. Hopefully we'll spot one this time! We have also travelled to quite a few places in the US, UK and Japan. Travelling to a ski resort called Gala from Tokyo and getting stuck on the ski slopes due to a blizzard was a memorable experience. So was a day trip to Kyoto from Tokyo (520 Kms each way!) in the Shinkansen (bullet train). A trip to Isle of Wight in the UK and a pleasure flying trip there on a 4 seater plane was another memorable experience. And yes, a trekking trip to Mt. Mitake near Tokyo after reaching there on a train which travelled on an incline of 45 degrees(!) was unforgettable too. Occasional drives in the US from Dayton to Cincinnati to have a couple of beers in the riverfront TGIF there were memorable too. Among our driving trips, we've been to Wayanad twice where we stayed in homestays. We've also driven to a sanctuary on the perimeter of the Nagarhole sanctuary where we also made a trip to a Tibetan settlement in a small hamlet called Gurupura. Coorg and Chennai have been other places where we have driven to. Our last trip was to Kumarakom in the backwaters of Kerala where we stayed in a houseboat for a night. The houseboat stay was our second in two years and we'll probably be there again this winter.
