We're a 'would be couple' from Delhi looking forward to tying the nuptial knot by the end of this year. I've recently completed my MBA after working for about 6 years post-Engineering and am currently on the lookout for a job and Kavita works as a freelance designer for fashion and textiles. She has currently decided that the place chosen to complete this write-up isn't really most suited for the same. Wonder whether it's the proximity to India gate or the 200 or so birds that surround the car (feeding off of some Indian snacks that an elderly uncle just threw for them) or even the music and acoustics offered by the interiors of this 15 year old Maruti! Only moving from the earlier spot and parking the car again (now facing India Gate, 4 dustbins in view, a riot control vehicle in the background and an oldie doing his early morning stretches) convinces her.

We are the best candidates because...

As arranged marriages go, we didn't really get a chance to get to know one-another for some time before the wedding. We recently did a trip to Leh amidst watery horrors and biting cold, but that only did little to bring us closer. More than anything, we had initially planned to start a blog - one that would chronicle our journey together. However, that plan remained just that - a plan. we're still planning to start a blog sometime, and writing during The Great Driving Challenge would jumpstart our first ambition as a couple! Sharing our travels with friends is also something we are really good at. Ever since the rerurn from the Leh trip, we've both not yet stopped ranting about how wonderful it was! If we get to participate in TGDC, wonder how long the conversations about it will last :)

Our Travel Plan

We plan to head south from Mumbai, taking NH4 to head to Pune and then onwards to Goa via NH17 crossing from Mahabaleshwar and heading first to Ratnagiri to witness the white sand beaches. Apart from the Notrh Goan beaches, we also plan to visit Palolem in the south and carry onwards to Gokarna continuing to Kanyakumari. Of course, we'll also stop by at other beaches, wildlife sanctuaries and cities on the way (Wyanad district in Kerala, and the wildlife sanctuary there, promise some breathtaking views. From Kanyakumari we plan to head north along the Indian peninsula and head to Pondicherri via NH7 and visiting places like Madurai and Dindigul and then onwards to Trichi via NH 45. Nagapattanam - the first city lying on the highway north of Kanyakumari, will be reached via NH67 from Trichi. From here on, Pondicherri will be another drive by the coast (NH45). From POndicherri, on our way back, we plan to visit Chennai, vijayavada and Hyderabad onwards to Mumbai to celebrate a fantastic finish to this journey.

Our Travelogue

Both of us are keenly interested in traveling (it's one of the first things that clicked between the two of us). We've, in fact, done our growing-up in different places. Kavita has grown up travelling through Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and J&K and also travelled to North India (almost all of Himachal, Leh, Jammu), North-East (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura) and the Western part (Gujrat and Maharashtra) of the country. I have travelled to some parts of J&K (including Udhampur, Patni Top and, recently, to Leh), Punjab (Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala), some road trips around Haryana and a recent 7,500 kilometer motorcycle trip (Pune - Leh - Pune).

My brother has always managed to surprise my parents and me. He has this unbelievable passion for travelling and I can not be happier that Kavita shares the same love for travelling too. Have known Anmol for quite some time now -- and he hasn't changed at all! He still is as enthusiastic about things, still as (or even more) creative and misses no opportunity to do anything.
